Hello from P&H!
Hello from P&H!
Well its all go here at the P&H factory this summer. Pez and Pat and the rest of the team in the factory are being kept very busy with the orders that are coming in for all our boats especially the new Capella 167 and the ‘flagship’ Cetus.

Excitedly due to unprecedented demand for the Cetus we are having to make a 2nd mould to try and keep up with the demand! We are working hard on getting that finished and getting the boats out there for those of you who have them on order or those who are eagerly awaiting a demo!
Looking at the new designs here in a bit more detail is the Capella 167. Designed to replace the 169 in the now ‘renowned’ Capella family it is getting great comments from everyone who has paddled it so far. Ideal for the mid size/weight paddler or those who want the ability to carry plenty of gear, the 167 handles just like you would expect a P&H Capella to do: stable, efficient and able to handle rougher conditions if they arise. The new 167 is set to be a great addition to the well known Capella family.

So what’s different?
Well, a slightly flatter ‘V’ hull makes the 167 a lot more stable than the 169 making it a superb working platform for coaches and group leaders, while the slightly lower front deck profile give it less windage too. A slightly larger cockpit area makes getting in and out smoother and also gives plenty of room to get comfortable.
The 167 is also one of the first boats to be fitted with our new Dyneema cord skeg system too. This is a great development from the old industry standard wire skegs which often have ‘kinking’ issues.
Sometimes the simplest things are the best!

This new injection moulded foil skeg is much more efficient and is controlled via a simple click lock slider by the cockpit as normal, however it differs from all the old wire systems in that is uses a Dyneema cord as the control line to raise the actual skeg unit while a durable shock cord is used to lower the skeg to the required position. This offers some great advantages:
|
Its very simple
It will not kink like wire at any time
It is much lighter
It is far more durable. |
Also, if it needs to be repaired in the field for any reason all you need is a length of thin cord!
Initially only available on the 167 and the Cetus the new skeg will be fitted onto other boats in the range in due course.
Sound good?
Well pop down to your local P&H dealer to arrange a demo and try it out for yourself.

That’s it for now, next time we will have news on all the events we will be attending over next few summer months.
Happy paddling from everyone at P&H.
