Sea eagles are by far the coolest looking bird out in Norway. \u00a0With a wingspan of up to 240cm they keep watch from cliffy headlands and saw overhead with such grace. \u00a0On our best day we spotted 11 birds with each sighting as exciting as the last.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9771.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1816 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9771-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"514\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9771-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9771-768x553.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9771-1024x737.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 514px) 100vw, 514px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>2. Trollfjord is the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of fjords. \u00a01100m peaks drop straight into the 100m <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">wide Fjord with snow capped mountains surrounding you. \u00a0Our top tip would be to get there early before all of the noisy tour ribs arrive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9765.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1817\" src=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9765-1024x712.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"534\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9765-1024x712.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9765-300x209.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9765-768x534.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">3. Rulten in the Trolltindan mountain range claims the title of \u201cLofotens most beautiful mountain\u201d. Renei Fjord is a stunning 3 pronged fjord that cuts deep into the Moskenes\u00f8ya mountains. \u00a0It is the perfect place to paddle when the open seas are wild and a great place to explore if you are new to sea k<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ayaking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9565.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1820\" src=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9565-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9565-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9565-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9565-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">5. Moskenes<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00f8<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ya beaches are by far the best in Lofoten. They are plentiful and their white sands stretch for miles. \u00a0Camped up, with a fire roaring and the sun setting is pretty hard to beat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9677.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1821\" src=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9677-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9677-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9677-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9677-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>When to go<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The climate is similar to Scotland but on average 4<\/span><b>\u00b0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">C colder so the best time to go is June to August. \u00a0This also allows you to experience the amazing 24h daylight. \u00a0Prepare to experience rain and wind but you will have the best chance to experience that classic Lofoten sun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9576.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1822\" src=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9576-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9576-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9576-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9576-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>How to get there<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This depends on your trip duration, budget and how many podcasts you have. \u00a0We chose to drive as we wanted to take our boats, lots of food and not have to hire a car. \u00a0It was a 47h drive <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">so not for the fainthearted or those with limited time. \u00a0Another option is to fly to Tromso and then transfer to Lofoten by either bus, express boat, plane or onboard the Hurtigruten (ferry)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u00a0A hire car would make life a lot easier but isn\u2019t essential.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9605.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1823\" src=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9605-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9605-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9605-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMG_9605-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Boat hire<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reine Adventure in the south and Lofoten Aktiv AS in the North hire boats and gear but you must have evidence of being at least BC 3*. \u00a0Both companies will be able to give you some great advice on where to go with the forecasted weather.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSCN9795.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1826\" src=\"http:\/\/phpaddlers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSCN9795-1024x693.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSCN9795-1024x693.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSCN9795-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSCN9795-768x520.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Where to stay<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wild camping opportunities in Norway are amazing. \u00a0You can camp for up to two nights anywhere on uncultivated land as long as you are over 150m from an inhabited building. \u00a0This is a great way to save money and also wake up in truly amazing places.
