Sylvie also wanted to switch to a closed-cockpit kayak, so we shared a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/kayaks.php?model=delphin-155\">Delphin<\/a> (one of the early models).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a few years, when CoreLite X entered the market, we upgraded.&nbsp;Anyone who knows the North Sea knows that surfing here is considered, well, demanding to say the least.&nbsp;The Delphin in CoreLite X was my favourite boat when it came down to taming the powerful, irregular North Sea waves with their way-too-short, 3-4 second intervals.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2710\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-900x675.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webP1070052-1280x960.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Dimitri in aforementioned Delphin.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were using the Delphin 150, the smaller of the two sizes, and although we loved its neat characteristics and handling, we missed a day hatch to stow our safety equipment and found it front-heavy.&nbsp;The day hatch was not possible for P&amp;H to add due to a lack of space (shorter aft deck), and the high bow was needed to prevent purling.&nbsp;So, we adapted!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8230; then P&amp;H launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/kayaks.php?cat=leo\">Leo<\/a>!&nbsp;The Leo feels like the underdog of the range, so it attracted our attention.&nbsp;Where a lot of paddlers moved from the Delphin to the recently launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/kayaks.php?cat=virgo\">Virgo<\/a>, I wanted to try the Leo out.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2711\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452-900x506.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.phseakayaks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/webvlcsnap-2026-05-27-11h56m17s452-1280x720.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sylvie on the water in her rare Sunset Pink Virgo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be brief, the Leo MV replaced my trusty Delphin 150.&nbsp;Why?&nbsp;Well, I did not expect the Leo to have almost the same amount of rocker as the Delphin, so when I tried it out for the first time in the surf, I was pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Leo doesn&#8217;t have the distinctive bow of the Delphin, but purling stayed to a minimum.&nbsp;It&#8217;s also a little more forgiving, as the hull is a bit more rounded when putting it on edge, and there&#8217;s no extra weight in the bow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, my problem of not having a day hatch was immediately solved.&nbsp;The Leo is sold as a multi-day tourer, and it is&#8230; kayaking is fun in all weathers, although we&#8217;re not sure we&#8217;ve ever seen Dimitri without a smile!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I absolutely love my composite P&amp;H Sea Kayaks, but I would never abandon PE.
