About the only snowy day we had was this recent day trip to Peaks Island with a few friends. Maybe we should have taken advantage of the snow and headed to the slopes instead!

A funny thing happened a little while back… I asked my paddling buddy Sean Morley (yes, he lives here now) to drop by and do his slide show of paddling solo around the UK and Ireland.
When French explorers first charted the waters of the Great Lakes, they called them the “mers douces”— the sweet seas…and not without good reason. There aren’t tides or salt water, but there are just under 11,000 miles (17,500 km) of coastline to paddle, and when conditions are right, we can get some awfully good surf.
